Wesley Groups

What is a Wesley Group?

Wesley Groups are small groups of individuals or couples joining together for worship and fellowship. Each group establishes its own agenda of meeting time and frequency. Some meet during the day - others in the evening. Some prefer mid-week - others on weekends.

Some of the groups study the Bible and others do Bible Study of a particular section or book. Some of the groups use workbooks and lesson plans on how God and the Bible relates to daily lives. Groups are like people. They are wonderfully different. Some groups focus on study, others on sharing. Whatever your need, Northbrook has a group for you!

Experience Spiritual And Personal Growth

A nurturing community is essential to your spiritual growth. Our Wesley Fellowship Groups have five important ingredients:

Fellowship:
This meets our need to belong and share our lives with caring Christian friends.

Worship & Prayer:
This meets our need to connect with God and share with Him our needs and hurts.

Study:
This meets our need to discover the truths of the Bible and how they relate to our daily living.

Accountability:
This meets our need to honor life's important commitments.

Mission:
This meets our need to give as we have received. The journey inward needs to move outward.

Wesley Fellowship Groups are a Lifestyle

All of our groups are facilitated by trained leaders with a commitment to our on-going learning opportunities, and they are especially encouraged to help you embrace this ministry as a lifestyle. Groups generally meet once a week or every-other-week, at a variety of times to conveniently fit your schedule. Anticipate your meeting to last about two hours. Wesley Groups are a place to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18). We hope the entire Northbrook community participates in this lifestyle of being discipled. You are a vital part of our community!

Getting into a Group

While God ultimately decides which group you will participate in while you are in community at Northbrook, we want to assist you. The first step to getting connected to a Wesley Fellowship Group is to accept your desire to do so. In the Book of Psalms, a Biblical book of praise to God, we are reminded to "delight ourselves in the Lord and He will give us the desires of our hearts" (Psalm 37:4). Connecting with a Wesley Group is a time to prayerfully connect with God.
