Counseling

The Northbrook Counseling Center (NCC) is a satellite center of the Care and Counseling Center of Georgia (CCCG) and is sponsored by the Northbrook United Methodist Church (UMC). CCCG was formed in the merger of the Verdery Counseling Center of the former Georgia Baptist Hospital and the Georgia Association for Pastoral Care Inc. CCCG is a nonprofit, interdenominational organization that provides pastoral counseling through its central office and satellite centers in metropolitan Atlanta. Counseling is available for individuals, couples and in groups.

What is Pastoral Counseling?
Pastoral counselors are ministers who are first trained in theology and then extensively trained in psychotherapy. This discipline, practiced for over 50 years, is based on the belief that God's presence in our world is reflected in our ability to relate to one another and to ourselves. Growth occurs in an atmosphere of acceptance, understanding, and compassion. This is Grace as humans can express it.

When Can Counseling Help?
Pastoral counseling can provide therapy for a wide variety of life's concerns, including:
• Marital & family conflict
• Anxiety or depression
• Trauma & abuse
• Job loss or dissatisfaction
• Divorce and recovery
• Loss or grief
• Women's and Men's issues

Are my visits private?
